Darn.  I will have to see if there are updates for VB, and then recompile the .exe when I have the time.  IDK SetFSBTray has worked for me, but it is in bad need of an update, and I am in bad need of motivation.

Going to remove .net 4.0 installation and see if it helps. windows XP btw

I have a problem with this application. I installed 1.1.3 version but it didn't work. I got .Net Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and 3.5 installed. Also I tried the solution about 1.1.2 install-uninstall and then 1.1.3 install as said above but no way. When make the settings, I choose save + exit option. Then I click settings again and everything goes back. I have this screen:

It doesn't save my settings.

Also I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP3.

Any solutions?

Not really....and sorry(holidays  ) for the late reply.   The problem may be where I am saving settings to.  Sorta weird.  I think I might update it and have the settings saved to the main drive but, that also requires backward support to transfer old settings over.

Anyways.  Setfsbtray is made as a stand-alone.  Take the program folder and paste it directly to the main (usually C: drive).  Try to save then.  Let me know.  You are trouble-shooter man.  Go man go!

Should the next release  be a stand alone?  Once again, backward comparability will be "fun", but do-able. Careful where you place the program   it doesn't like the program files folder apparently....

If you don't have a gpscript, then you need to set the program to reset fsb on shutdown, and use the TRAY icons to shutdown/restart. 

Or you could reset it manually every time.  Up to yous.  PM me if you need more specific questions answered....

Side note~Anyone have ideas on things I could add to this program, or what code I could use/replace that doesn't depend on .net?

just to add my personal experience, i did the overclock with setFSB, works till 2.1 ghz otherwise it freezes, then

the N10 will freeze on shutdown while overclocked, so you need to reset the FSB before then.  There are two ways in the program.  If you have the right operating system, then creating a gpscript is the way to go.  Otherwise you can have the shutdown buttons in the tray icon reset the FSB for you.

what i don't really like alas i am asking if you guys have a fix for it, is that when the computer turns off the screen if you set the classic 5 minutes "turn off monitor", then the computer freezes. in other words, let's say that i let it download then go away, monitor goes off, then when i come back, it froze, so it "worked" only for 5 minutes or whatever setting i did. for the note i keep RMclock for having the speedstep OFF.

so in other words, just to clarify that, if it's in OC, i gotta turn off the power saving mode, turn off monitor thng and so on? are you guys also having these issues?

isn't there another way to do the OC without having all these issues? which seems to be a bit too much if you ask me... LAN, problems on restart, problems with monitor going off, and so on. not to mention the RMclock trick to have speed step turned off.

wouldn't it be better if asus would do a new bios with the CPU settings right there? on my desktop PC is as easy as 1-2-3 to overclock...it's right in the bios...you guys know what im talking about.

Notebooks are not exactly counted as professional computers. I guess they just don't want you to wreck their computer, so no way they're going to put that in BIOS. In the desktop PC's however, the mainboard is free for any kind of modification. You can add/remove anything you want. More space for modification, more options in BIOS. They assume that when you buy a notebook, you WON'T change a thing. 

For your problem I can advise you this: Turn off any kind of power reducing elements, and manually close/open your screen by Fn + F7. If you are not going to stay in front of the computer, no need for it to stay open, right? Or just close the lid.

Personally, I had no troubles neither with restart nor monitor. I can go up to 2.1 Ghz with RMClock, and just set it to sleep when I'm done. I don't like to wait for this thing to open up, so it stays in sleep between classes or as I walk from one place to another. When I wake the computer, RMClock tells me it failed and will shutdown (no idea why, it stopped doing that though), and I just raise the clock back to the max. Maybe your computer is just not able to stay stable at 2.1?
The only problem I had with OC'ing is that I kinda set the SetFSB to increase the FSB (I use shortcuts, like them) little by little. So if I try to load a program (let's say load the farm map of Left 4 Dead), the memory fails as it tries to keep up with the increasing FSB, and BSODs. I just wait a little while before doing anything.

No, I just think the Clock-PLL will be different for the newer N10's. They have a different processor (N280) and a higher FSB (166Mhz instead of 133Mhz), so naturally, all dividers and multipliers in the machine are different. So I would presume he needs another PLL

Open your computer, find the clock generator, and write down the number.  If there is a new clock gen in newer n10's we need to know.  it is important info here.

Up to you.  Take it apart and post comparison pics to the n10-a2 while your at it(if there are any).

Now we just hope and pray he has the courage/motivation to rip it apart...
