Just thought I'd post really quickly about minecraft here. Didn't see any minecraft specific posts. It works, great!

I bought the full version and spend 99% of my time in single player survival. I like to play on fullscreen too (press F11). I like to use the following settings:

Render distance: Normal
Graphics Quality: Fast

There is a hotkey for toggling render distance, so you can turn on Far mode when you want to look around or are generally exploring, but with the above settings you'll bounce around between 25-60 fps, at least I do. More than playable!

Oh and I should Mention, This is playing with a 2ghz cpu OC of course. OCing the GPU helps a little too (This game is GPU intensive).

N10 making a really annoying buzzing sound

My N10Jc is making a really annoying buzzing sound, i can hear it, some friends of mine cant... maybe because of the frequency of the sound, but it's really annoying. I think it's the fan in the left side, what can i do ?

How to OC your Asus N10, with Benchmark pictures

Ok so you want to overclock your N10 now do ya? well here you will find all the info you need to get this puppy up and running at about 2Ghz stable! all this came together after doing a lot of research and finally finding best program. I found setFSB from other sites and found out that the ower Abo from Japan was willing to make me a PLL for my mobo. I found the clock generator hiding under the wifi card and this was after breaking the entire notebook apart! ( ICS9LPR310BGLF ). After a couple of test versions I finally got the last release and all with good results. I used Prime95 to put a 100% load on the system for 10+ hrs with no errors. I now run my N10 at 2ghz with no problems.... I know we can push for more but at the moment i feel very comfortable with what i have .

Before we begin, only do this if you are tech savy and understand overclocking! i dont want to hear anyone whining that their computer wont turn back on or that they have all these lines on their screen now after trying to OC their computer to 3Ghz! or that they smell a distinct smell coming form their keyboard(burnt components!). With that said,

on to the goodies...:

alright so at small increments you will slide the fsb bar over to the right going from 1.6 to 1.7 then 1.8 from here you want to go even slower 1.85, 1.89, 1.9..... you get the idea slowly and look for craziness on your screen, a lock up, or better yet the BSOD!!! if you reach any of these you have gone way too far!

once you have your max OC then proceed to OC your PCI to about 33.4mhz.... for some reason the stock is set to 33.0 when I believe it should be 33.3 I noticed that some of my problems like my Lan going nuts stopped when i OCed to 33.4, you might be able to go a little higher but i dont really see any advantage to this as you will not see a great performance gain and u will stress that bus more instead of help it.

Once you have it where you want it now we are going to do some stress testing on your CPU and rest of your components to ensure that even under the harshes conditions your computer will perform like a mini beast! Open up prime95 and keep your HWmonitor on, start up prime95 and let it run for as long as possible... i ran it for about 10hrs overnight and when i stopped it it showed 0errors so i knew i was good to go! If you notice the system halt or prime95 stops readjust your FSB then test again until you have a stable clock.

as you can see the best driver to have is the one from asus.... I am going to stay there until the next release is out and i will benchmark that one as well. I might try to continue overclocking but for the moment i am going to take a break lol.

To start up your SetFSB automatically you need to make a .bat file smile basically open up a text file and type this in:

C:\"location of folder"\setfsb.exe -w10 -s169 -p101.4 -b1 -i2,

Those settings will give you 2028mhz and 33.8mhz PCI bus the W is how long it will wait before it starts overclocking(while setfsb opens up) S(FSB) P(PCI bus) B(run in background) i(i dont remember lol... )

Hey guys i find this on some others forum and would to share with you guys

What is SetFSB?

SetFSB is a program that makes possible control the PLL(Clock Generator) on your board, so you can control the FSB and PCI/PCI-E buses while in Windows. That way you can overclock your CPU and system memory too.

What is SetFSB Automatic Tool?

I decided to make this tool, because when you shutdown(to power off/standby) all the settings that you have made within SetFSB are lost. Then you need to re-enter and re-setting the FSB again.

So with this tool you don´t need to do anything, it will set a predefined overclock automatically on systems boot.

Because the M570RU´s clock generator resets on shutdown(standby) but keeps its settings when you restart(the power is not cut), this tool will automatically detect that situation an will not rise the FSB again.

How to in 3 steps:

Extract and run the AutoToolInstaller.exe. Accept and click the install button. (It will create a folder with the SetFSB files on C:\ don't change it or else it won't work)

Then download(below) the SetFSB Auto Tool Configuration and Auto Tool OC ON. Place the both .exes anywere you like, desktop, programs, etc.

If you need to reset your CPU to the stock frequency, just download(below) the SetFSB Auto Tool OC OFF. Place it anywere you like, desktop, programs, etc.

Now, run the Auto Tool Configuration Utility. It will ask for the stock CPU frequency. Enter it on Mhz units. Then click [OK]. (we use intel Atom so put 1600)

Next it will ask for the Max multiplier of your CPU. Enter it. Then click [OK]. ( type in 12 )

Finally it will ask for the desired overclocking frequency. Enter it on Mhz units. Then click [OK]. (whatever speed you want i go with 2ghz so 2030)

Now, if you want to apply the overclock automatically to the CPU when your system boots up, just follow these 3 steps:

Click Start -> All Programs -> Startup. Right click over "Startup", chose open/explore.

Now that we have the Startup folder open, copy the SetFSBAutoToolOCON.exe to the Startup folder.

Finally, check the Startup folder via Start Menu to confirm.

Make sure that you have selected the correct and funcional PLL/Clock Generator for your machine. (select ICS9LPR310BGLF).

This tool will configure your overclock profile. Just copy it to your desktop or any other place and double-click on it.

Every time your computers starts or you run this tool manually, the SetFSB Auto Tool will automatically apply the predefined overclock to your CPU. Remember to test first in small Mhz steps.

One tray baloon will automatically pop up, warning you about the overclocking frequency that was applied to your CPU:

If in the future your don´t want the overclock automatically applied on system boot, just delete the .exe from the Startup folder. If you want to set another overclock frequency, just run the Auto Tool Configuration utility.

Cant find where full version of protector suite software is?

My system is n10j-1a
put in windows 7 ultimate x32.
Everything went well, and I installed all the programs and drivers I wanted and needed.
Everything works well except I dont know where the protector suite is? (for fingerprint reader)
I downloaded one from one of the links provided by n10users how to post, but the one from the site is only a trial.
Which packet contains the protector suite?

and which driver? the "common" drivers or the "WBF" drivers?(from UPEK site...)

Rumored to be announced this winter and released in Q2 of next year. Very interesting...

While it may seem strange that they're already announcing a much more powerful chip so shortly after the initial launch of the first Ion, consider the fact that Nvidia's next gen GPUs will be out Q4 this year, and they are really backing their Ion technology... What this says to me is part of the development going into their next gen GPUs have been Ion solutions, and this may be just that; a next gen Ion.

Of course this is all rumor and speculation. I'm just explaining why it may not be so far fetched.

At any rate, I'm VERY interested. The promise of 2x the graphics performance and some Core 2 chips in a presumably 11.6" chassis makes me drool. This would be THE premiere gamer and possibly digital artist ultraportable. I'm excited to see where this goes! I just hope battery life doesn't suffer...
