Re: Ready Boost and a SSD

Moving the temp folder:

Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Environment variables. Highlight the "temp" variable, click Edit, and enter the new location in the Variable Value field.

Also creating a ramdrive for your browser cache may be desirable if you have excess ram and want maximum browser speed to optimize your high speed broadband internet connection

Re: Ready Boost and a SSD

So that covers browser cache(on the previous page) and temp and afaik, pagefile cant be moved onto a removable media such as an sd card. I disabled the pagefile altogether to protect my ssd and because I had no other hdd to put it on, on my notebook sad

If you do have another fixed drive and want to move the pagefile to it, than it can be found here:
Right-click My Computer, Goto the Advanced tab and hit the settings button under the performance frame, then goto the advanced tab there and under virtual memory hit the change button and u'll see settings there to move it.

Once again don't try moving it to an sd card, it wont work and will cause errors unless you could maybe find some way of mounting the card as a fixed drive and have your BIOS recognize it.

And sorry for the multiple posts, I got a bit carried away  wink

i think gamers and other non standard users are looking for performance and compatibility rather then eye candy and protection.

What about functionality and ease of use? New OS's are always going to be larger and less efficient than their lighter predecessors but you cant look at performance based on just boot times and app loading times besides advancements in hardware technology will improve those soon enough anyway. Sure, vista was a dud as it was more annoying than anything else but 7 has far more to offer than xp in terms of style ease of use, functionallity and compatability dare i say it  cool . All in all its a better OS hands down and to be honest, I think that xp is obsolete at this stage. It has nothing more to offer other than taking a couple of seconds off boot time.
