Topic: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

1080p youtube plays swimmingly with the 9300M GS enabled. It's the same for Hulu.

Rejoice!

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

For me full screen 1080p youtube playback is smooth with processor load at 40% @1,6 Ghz but only using n10's screen. When I output to my full HD monitor frame rate drops significantly tho it's not the slideshow it used to be. What drivers are you using?

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

I haven't tried outputting to an HD monitor yet, but keep in mind this is a beta release.

I'll try when I get home.

I'm on the latest nvidia drivers, I think.

Confirm! All playable extra smooth big_smile

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Also: apparently frame rates are better when using Windows 7, so that could be why. Still waiting to try it myself.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Probably it will be the same for you. Because I am on 7 and I updated the drivers yesterday.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

I just updated to the beta drivers released yesterday, and yeah video playback is not fluid when outputted to my 1920x1200 resolution display. It is very choppy and not enjoyable.

I suspect that the displays used in the demonstrations were 720p displays...

At any rate, it seems upscaling in general will cause it to slow down alot. My CPU usage is still low, so I'm confused as to why it does this. I'm hoping its a software problem that will be corrected when the final release rears it's head.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

I can't get GPU acceleration working.

I downloaded the latest drivers mentioning support for it at http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_w … 95.55.html

i got flash 10.1 (its definitely running because of the right click menu)

I watch a 720p movie on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS4tLdLnSsg

And its laggy, i'm not using any external monitor, i have it on the 9300M GS and i'm not overclocked.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Don't worry, that video is laggy for me too... No idea why, but try this:

1080p dark knight trailer

seems like some encoding formats aren't supported as of right now? That's my only guess.

plugin is for any browser except for IE. activex is for IE.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Only H.264 encoding is gpu accelerated according to the release notes so until reencoded some videos will be slow.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

i just installed win 7 professional. Tried running HD videos on vimeo without this.
Tried again afterwards. CPU usage down to 40% and much smoother.

AFAIK this is still beta and only works with H264 encoding.  you need to have 9300 on and watching HD videos, preferably 1800p so you can notice a significant difference

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Silverlight has GPU-acceleration built-in since v3.0 already. It does feel a lot faster, Microsoft doesn't screw up everything they do you know lol

Don't make me "touch" you :-D

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

No, they wont stop lol.  They check to see if you have flash, not to see if you have something compatable.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Lol I tried silverlight when they first released the gpu accelerated version and it works much smoother than flash. However silverlight and flash content aren't compatible so you can't use one instead of the other. Btw when outputted to 1080p screen silverlight doesn't shatter like flash.

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

just installed the beta 3 version and I must say that the performance is much better on hd youtube (720p... the 1080p is still choppy) videos but alas not on fullscreen with the n10

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

yea beta 3 works well on youtube

some 1080p vids play crap still maybe they were encoded differently??

1080p dark knight trailer played as smooth as butter though

CPU usage is lowered and i played the vid on battery saving mode/no AC power

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

yep i am running latest beta, it it better, but volume on most videos sucks.  and some of the video still is a little jerkey.  plus the best i can get is 480, this just does not seem right.   sad

am i doing something wrong, or wtf is going on, really i am not kidding   hmm   tongue

Re: Flash 10.1 Pre-release is out!

Web, I doubt you're doing anything wrong: Flash video can be encoded with several different versions of several codecs, and the new beta has bugs and performance issues with some -- the results you get is going to depend on the specific video you're watching.  The only way to make a comparison that's meaningful with this beta is if we all compared results the same YouTube video as things can vary so widely...
