Topic: Snow Leopard mission accomplished

Me again, didn't get any responses to my last topic so i though might was well make a new one.

After a little more research i pieced together different guides to successfully install snow leopard on the N10

while this isn't a major feat im going to try to make my own guide to make it simple to install osx

right now im going to show steps done and later make another thread with a complete guide all cleaned up

As of this minute i have usb 2.0 working

above accomplished by adding

putting  <key>USBBusFix</key><string>Yes</string> into /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist and then you can enable USB in your BIOS.
(tip you will get error that it can not save due to authentication, drag the file to the desktop, edit it, drag it back into /extra
you will be asked to authenticate, enter your password and replace, Then you can enable usb in your bios)

remember you still need the modified bios for any of this to work

real quick i will show all the guides/threads i used to make this all happen

http://liveslick.com/2007/12/28/install … ard-drive/

side side note: u need 2 partions, one to hold the install dvd and 1 to install osx, dvd one can be about 12gb(what i used)
(to install osx to a hard drive, i lost the guide i fond but this 1 pretty much he same, only add on is int eh partition tab you hit option and make sure its on mbr)

(used for bootloader "Dr. Hurt's Chameleon RC5 Installer Package  (based on rekursor's RC5pre8)" )

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. … amp;st=100
(used for usb fix and later on to confirm other drivers gfx etc working)

as i said later hopefully tom i can write up a full guide, im just using this so i don't forget anything

end note i did use a real mac for my install method since it was easier, i probably wont try the other method which required program/live linux to throw osx install on a partition of the hdd)

i will edit more tomm, its 1am time to call it a day
edit: a pic for those non belivers

Re: Snow Leopard mission accomplished

Can I assume there would be no way to dual boot with windows 7 since OSX requires a special bios?

Re: Snow Leopard mission accomplished

Great work! If you can turn this to a guide, then I'll be glad to put this on the wiki! big_smile

@ Solitaire
dual booting is still possible but i haven't tried that yet, its on my  to do list, until i make a full guide you can browse the insanely wind forums as they have alot of threads on dual booting etc, the special bios is required as stated before , the bios allows osx installed in the first place but does not change anything if you have windows, before this i had the special bios running in windows xp with no problems

@Crossbourne

thanks for the recognition, ill see if i can try to make the guide later today , im still messing with it getting everything to work

I have audio working now via  VoodooHDA.kext and bluetooth via drivers already in snowywind osx, though somehow i enabled it using the fn+f2 key and i got a black screen but the BT light was on then i rebooted and now its permanently on so i guess that's good lol, already paired a BT headset)

Also wifi working OTB and it detects it as a normal airport device so no messy id changing big_smile

also got camera working in photobooth via iglasses because our webcams were assembled upside down

onboard mic not working as of now, will look into it later, got bt mic to work in skype though, video also working in skype

for sound its a bit staticy for less then half a second then it sounds fine it seems like it makes that noise when u havnt used sound in a while, still a very minor issue

also nvida gfx working via nv inject kext, it set it to 1024x600, will mess with configs to see if i can stretch it

thats all for now, will post more updates later

side note, i got all this to work so far without even touching terminal so the guide will be very user friendly big_smile

Re: Snow Leopard mission accomplished

This should be very interesting.  I am looking forward to this.

I wondered when someone was going to figure it out.  Great news!
