Topic: Must Have Free NJ10 Software

Just thought this would be a good list.

Ok, if you want to add to this list, please include a link to the developer, not a download link. I'd rather give credit to the dev than a download site. Thx

Re: Must Have Free NJ10 Software

Don't forget daemon virtual drive. Can store ISO's on your n10 and load them on the virtual drive. You can get a free iso creator and load them into your virtual drive, I do this for many old games when I don't wanna carry around my external drive. It's also great for installing apps over a network or whatevs

Re: Must Have Free NJ10 Software

I would like to add my collection if I'm allowed:

Firefox 3
CCleaner
Orbit Downloader
KMPlayer
MediaMonkey
Revo Uninstaller
Process Explorer (for the people who want's to know what's going on in their PC)
VLC
K-Lite Codec Pack Full
Startup Delayer / Process Lasso    (recommended to for performance enhancement)
Adobe Reader    (I like it, I know some people say it's bloated but not me)

Bold-ed titles are extra recommended.
That what comes to my mind.
Gotta love freeware big_smile.

You're full of virus, I'm kidding big_smile

Orbit has no viruses, I've got Kaspersky 2009 and no reports. I've been using Orbit for about  1.5 years, and I fully trust it.
I know lately it's getting annoying, it changes the home page to the Orbit website. but other than that it's great, free, and fast.

Notebook Hardware Controller
http://www.pbus-167.com/

It provides info for HD temp and CPU temp.
And it's good to control your CPU.
I use it with Power4Gear from ASUS.

Re: Must Have Free NJ10 Software

Here's a free ISO recorder I forgot to add that is incredibly easy to use

http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

After installation just open your drop-down menu on what you want to record (IE a disk in your driver/network location etc) like this:

Enjoy

Re: Must Have Free NJ10 Software

GMAIL Notifier has been working on both my vista machines for 2 months now.  Only problem might be when you use https as gmail notifier isn't set up for that.  There is a patch, just google search "gmail notifier https" and you will find the patch.

I suggest using the patch and then in Gmails settings, set to Always use https.

PriorityControl_STATIC

PriorityControl_STATIC is a simple application that updates every 60 seconds and allows you to control application priorities.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS- … ATIC.shtml

I'm using this program to control all my regular applications.
And it can save all the settings.
Really nice program. roll

Process Tamer:
http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/M … index.html

Any program that is using 100% CPU for more then 7 seconds (can be changed) gets it priority dropped.  You can specify any process thread to run at any speed.  I used it to auto disable a spy ware program that kept trying to run until I was able to remove the spy ware program.

A must on any netbook and I even use it on my desktop too.

Re: Must Have Free NJ10 Software

Avira AntiVir Free - I'd use it just for the sound it makes when it finds a malware.
Media Player Classic - Homecinema + PDVD9 Codecs - For your MKV playback needs.
7-Zip - A lite and good archiving program.
Office 2007 Professional - To write my weekly lab reports and to make my data tables and graphs.
Adobe Reader 9.3 - PDF reader is a must. You can go for Foxit if you want though.

I don't use the rest in 7, and I use the performance programs only in XP. They are good to have nevertheless.

CDBurnerXP - A simple and easy-to-use burning program.
Fences - An interface that replaces your desktop with "fences" (small named areas). You can organize your icons in these fences, and categorize them as you like.
BatteryBar - Gives detailed information about your battery.
CCleaner - As others recommend. It is better, but I prefer the disk cleanup service of Win.
Defraggler - From the same company that made CCleaner. A good disk defragmentation program, but, again, I prefer the disk defragmenter of Win.
Spybot Search & Destroy - "Immunization" is good. Although I'd say any experienced user would already know the sites he/she should not visit. The TeaTimer application is also good to track changes in the registry.
Acronis Disk Director Suite - One of the best disk management programs out there. Too bad it doesn't support 7 (yet).

For Performance:
RMClock - To run the HLT command in order to lock the multiplier at 12x.
SetFSB - To overclock (duh).
CPU-Z - For CPU values.
Hardware Monitor - For temperature values.
prime95 - For torture testing.
GameBooster - Shuts down some services to clear about 40MB of RAM. The improvement in games are minimal.
TuneUp Utilities 2010 - An easy-to-use program that modifies some settings for better performance. It has its own file cleaner & defragmenter, process manager, registry cleaner & defragmenter etc. It really made my XP work better.

Anything else, it is on my desktop computer. (Like Daemon Tools or uTorrent) I do most of my gaming on my desktop too.

Asus N10Jc @ 2.06 Ghz - XP / 7 Dual - 2GB 667Mhz RAM - WD Scorpio Blue 250Gb - FSB:DRAM 1:2 - CVV 1.1V
