Topic: Windows 7 HDMI output problem

All - I installed windows 7 on my N10J and unable to use the HDMI port. When connected to hdmi hi-def tv the laptop does not recognize the other display. I am unable to switch to hdmi mode. I installed the latest drivers from Nvidia and all others listed on asus support website. It is not working for me.

can someone help me how to get this working. asus tech support is ridiculous and bunch of amateurs. the last option was to break my skull talking to those people whose accent is ridiculous. Please gurus help me out with this. please send email in case of more information to cnplkart@yahoo.com. appreciated.

Re: Windows 7 HDMI output problem

First, to make sure: You have the nVidia GPU switched on (with the reboot and all)? Because even if you install all the correct drivers, the HDMI-port is not powered when using the Intel GPU. When you right-click your desktop, do you get the nVidia Control Panel option or the Intel IGP option?

This is just to make sure we don't rule out anything.

If that is the case, there are still some other things:
1) What version of the nVidia driver are you using?
2) What display/TV are you trying to hook up to?
3) Does the VGA-port function?

I'll try and do some research myself in the meantime  wink

Don't make me "touch" you :-D

it is working now. The reason was the hdmi port had to be cleaned. Sprayed air for both the port and cable plug. its working.

I can not connect to an external monitor with HDMI. I don't have the nVidia Control Panel, I have the Intel Control Panel. What do I need to do to get the N10J to use the HDMI cable for the external monitor. Thanks for any help.

Switch on the nVidia GPU and reboot. If you only see the Intel panel, it means you have the Intel IGP turned on instead of the nVidia-GPU. The Intel IGP does not support HDMI, so the HDMI will not work with that card enabled.

The switch is located right next to the HDMI-port on the left-side of the laptop. Normally you should see Off/On-labels, the On-state means the nVidia GPU will be turned on (so that's what you need).

The switch next to the USB-port can be used to turn the wireless (Wifi&BT) off (only information, not relevant for you in this case).
