Topic: n10 motherboard swap?

The possibility of doing a cpu swap on the n10 has been discussed and discounted, but what about a complete motherboard swap with a similar netbook, maybe something  like an asus eee pc 1015 as the donor?  Seems like it might work, but unless you got a dead (except for the mobo) unit as the donor, the cost would probably outweigh the benefit.

Anyone think this would work?

Re: n10 motherboard swap?

Could work, but you'd have to find a 'donor' that would fit. Most of these motherboards are designed specifically for the chassis they're sold in, so they fit nice and tight leaving enough room for cooling but not wasting any space making the chassis unnecessarily big.

And you would lose the functionality of the graphics switch (the N10 is still one of the only laptops ever made to have such a hardware switch) plus possibly some other stuff like the webcam, microphone and light sensor (the N10-motherboard has some special connector through which you can connect all three together). Also, possibly the LED-connections would cause you trouble, some of them are soldered onto the motherboard where the LED's are, so good luck finding a motherboard with those exact soldering points at that exact location.

So, yes, it's possible. But so is shooting yourself in the head. Both are not very pleasant  lol

Don't make me "touch" you :-D
