Topic: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

Hey guys! I just insalled windows 7 and all drivers from this topic - http://www.n10user.com/viewtopic.php?id=870  Everything works perfect except one thing... Previously in Vista there was an option in Synaptics control panel to disable touchpad automatically when mouse is plugged in.
I can't find it in the windows 7 (latest synaptics touchpad driver installed), please help me, im pissed off lol yikes mad

And by the way is it normal while on GMA950 to have "digital flat display (1024x768 60hz)" in monitors section of device manager (except "universal PnP monitor")?

Thank in advance! smile

Re: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

Just got my mini mouse today, and easily found it.

I'm on W7 RC1. To get to the option, you have to go to Mouse settings under control panel, and then click the Device Settings tab. Then you just check the "Disable internal pointing device when external USB device is attached" and you're good to go.

It is strange... I don't have such option ("Disable internal pointing device when external USB device is attached") there... neutral
Synaptics driver version 10.1.8.0 ...

Re: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

I figured that was the case, as I figured it would be hard to miss.

My driver version is 10.1.8.06Dec07

I can't remember where I got it from though. Try installing some different vista drivers from Asus, and from synaptics themselves.

edit:

actually, in my device manager it lists the driver version as 10.1.8.0

The date is 12/6/2007.

What date is yours? What version of W7 are you using?

Re: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

Well thats interesting... I know I upgraded my installation from Vista, so maybe that makes a difference... I really don't know what to say =/

Re: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

just guessing here, i use vista not w7, but i have found i use original driver from asus driver disk for synaptics touch pad (i do not like the updates), it has that disable option, and it works good, will not work in Experssgate(sucks), but also if u go into synaptics settings and at the bottom that page there are touchpad settings and palm settings u can play with. it worked for me maybe it will work i do not know

also i was using some vlite versions of vista and deleted  uac from windows so i couldn't download vista synaptics touch pad driver, so i went out and downloaded xp version of synaptics driver, it did not have the the disable option if a mouse is being used, but it had in settings palm check and tough pad sensitivity which i increased until everything worked fine.   hope it helps cannot hurt to try

Re: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

mateo - i am using latest one from synaptics v10.1.8.0,  at the asus site for the n10j vista, there is only i think it's v8xxxx both of these allow u to disable toughpad and adjust sensitivity and palm check if adjusted correctly the cursor rarely moves, there certain inherent problems when turning off the pad, like when batteries die on wireless and bt mouse   mad

when i had vlite- i used the latest ver of xp synaptics,    cool

hope that helps

Re: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

Well, I always wait a few weeks when a new driver is released. It saved me tons of problems, just look at the nVidia driver that disabled the fan and burned your card, the Samsung display driver that tore down your registry making your Windows inoperable, etc. I consider it good practice to at least wait two weeks and check the internet to see if there are problems with the new driver  cool

Don't make me "touch" you :-D

Re: Win7 Touchpad auto disabling option when mouse is plugged in?

The driver on the included driver cd has the option and is fully functional under xp/vista/win7 . I am traveling and do not have the cd with me but I am sure someone here does and can post up the drivers number.

For win7 64 I use the vista 64 drivers and they work fine.

There are many reasons for that. Suffice it to say that if you focus a large amount of your headlines for your material on pain real estate coursesavoidance you should have more responses from those who view your marketing. You're going to get them engaged in your content. That's the whole reason for the headline.
