Topic: Memory Upgrade

I wanted to know if anybody is aware of the 2GB memory chip that comes installed on the N10J-A2 model.  I took it out of the computer but there is a sticker on it blocking the information that I need.  Basically I am trying to speed up this laptop as fast as possible.  I already upgraded the hard drive to a solid state drive, now I am interested in upgraded the memory.

My specific questions are as follows:

1) What memory comes preinstalled, included name, speed, and any pertinent specifications?
2) What is the fastest memory I can upgrade to?

Re: Memory Upgrade

if it come with 2gb already why bother upgrade the memory???
you not going to higher performance anyway,

my N10J 's stock 2gb memory run fine even i overclock to 2.0ghz

if you using Vista then for sure to add a SD card and use superfetch

N10J-A1 Atom 1.6 @ 2.03ghz || 2gb DDR2 || 9300M GS at 620/520/1550
seagate 5400.6 500gb || 16gb SD Card
Eeepc 1201 Atom N330 Dual Core 1.6 @ 2.0ghz || 4gb DDR2 || ION chipset
250gb HD || 12"

Re: Memory Upgrade

If you want higher performance RAM, look for low latency models.

Re: Memory Upgrade

I wanted to know what the fastest memory I can bye.  I don't believe in overclocking even though there are a lot of people here who do.  I need the proper specs.  I know 2GB is the max but there is many different speeds of 2GB as well as ecc or non-ecc and maybe even a few specs I am not aware of.  These are the types of numbers I am looking for.

Re: Memory Upgrade

Something like this is top of the line RAM, it should be compatible with N10.

Re: Memory Upgrade

you don't need anything like that. Just standard PC5300 for about $20 will do!

or

But the stock RAM is actually fine. I use mine, overclock to 2.1GHz and no issues.

Re: Memory Upgrade

lower latency does basically nothing for performance. Don't waste your money.

Re: Memory Upgrade

Lower latency ram will only buy you a few percentage points of difference in the best cast scenarios. Hardly worth the cost.

Exactly, and those percentage points are when something is not bottlenecking

Example: looking at the sky in a game because the CPU and GPU has very little work to do.
